The world should not forget what is happening in Ukraine. We’re proud to see the documentary film Songs of Slow Burning Earth, supported through our Film Programme, shining at the One World International Human Rights Film Festival, receiving the International Competition Jury Award for Best Film.
Olha Zhurba’s audio-visual diary documents the first two years of Russia’s full-scale invasion, during which death and destruction eventually became a tragic norm. Against the backdrop of this collective disaster, a new generation of Ukrainians aspires to imagine the future.
Songs of Slow Burning Earth premiered at the Venice Film Festival in 2024 and has since been screened at several festivals, winning awards at the Riga International Film Festival and the Rome International Documentary Festival, among others.
Prague Civil Society Centre supported the production through our Film Programme.
