The Prague Civil Society Centre is a non-profit organisation supporting and empowering civil society and independent media in Eastern and Central Europe, the South Caucasus, and Central Asia. We believe that a vibrant civil society and independent media are key to achieving more open and democratic societies. We work to ensure that activists, journalists, and changemakers of all kinds, many of whom work in the most repressive regimes, get the support they need – be it grants, capacity building or connections – to push for change.
As Communications Officer, you will be responsible for getting the word out about the Prague Civil Society Centre. Under the supervision of the Senior Communications Officer, you will develop and grow our online presence, secure coverage at our major events and make sure our communications conform to our communication strategy and brand identity.
This is a role that requires sensitivity to the specific environments we work in and the restrictions working in closed and closing political contexts brings to public communications whilst also finding creative ways to highlight the extraordinary work our partners achieve.
Tasks and responsibilities:
· Produce external communications content (including multimedia products) for social media, website, digital newsletters, and other publications both in English and Czech
· Ensure consistency in terms of voice, messaging, branding and frequency of posting via digital channels
· Support staff in drafting public reports and case studies, presentations and talking points as required, providing editorial function as needed
· Contribute to the planning and organisation of both public and closed events in Prague in line with the Centre’s communication strategy, including the identification of new opportunities to increase Centre’s visibility and engagement with different audiences
· Handle media enquiries and create effective news releases to gain positive press coverage
Qualifications andrequirements:
· Ideally at least 5 years of relevant experience in a relevant sector (communications and public relations, journalism, etc.)
· Experience in producing multimedia content
· Experience in social media analytics
· Fluency in written and spoken English and Czech is required
· Strong planning skills, ability to work independently, prioritise tasks and meet deadlines
· Well-organised person with attention to detail
· Proactive person with an eye for spotting communication opportunities, i.e. also understanding the Czech media context
· A university degree in a relevant field is an asset, as well as knowledge of any other language relevant to our work
· Ability to work in a multi-national team
